Patient advocate and writer Mary Shomon will be here this morning to share with us her story. She transformed her own 1995 thyroid diagnosis into a mission to educate and empower other patients who struggle with thyroid, autoimmune, hormone, and weight loss challenges. Mary is author of a number of best-selling books on thyroid disease, hormones, autoimmune disease, and weight loss, and a nationally-known spokesperson and activist for patient rights. In addition to her work with About.com, Mary founded and runs the www.thyroid.about.com website, and since 1997 has published Sticking Out Our Necks, the only independent, advertising-free thyroid disease newsletter for patients.
Lifestyle Show 12:00-1:00
I will be joined by Brenna Barzenick this afternoon to talk about her new book Tsumommy. This book is about all the trial and tribulations that come with motherhood and all the messes! Join her as she goes from a working successful woman to tackling motherhood!
Author Marc Hershon will be here today to talk about his new book I Hate People But It’s Nothing Personal. In recognition of how much office workers hate people today — and want to minimize personal interactions — one author, sums it all up, and has come up with something that’s going to make it even tougher for idle co-workers to wreck your concentration.
I will also be joined by author of Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken: Transform Your Life with the Power of Authenticity, Mike Robbins “Be true to yourself.” “Be your real self.” “Be the person you were meant to be.” The message is loud and clear. Or is it? There is pressure from all around (family, friends, co-workers, the media, and society at large) telling us it’s more important to be liked and to fit in than it is to be who we truly are. We're also constantly bombarded with messages telling us that we aren’t good enough and need to be fixed.
