Yousufzai, from Pakistan, was shot in the head by the Taliban while standing up for girls’ right to be educated. Since she was flown to Britain to receive specialized care, Yousufzai is making what her father calls a “miraculous” recovery. Because she grew up in a religion that taught women they had little value, Marilyn persistently attached herself to abusive men, Kelly says.
