It’s so common, it’s cliché: powerful men getting seduced by young, attractive and ambitious women. Will powerful men of the future learn from the damaging affairs of former CIA director David Petraeus, Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods and the many others throughout history?
“This is just part of the drama that we call human nature,” says legendary investor Charles Martin, author of “Provocateur,” (
www.provocateurbook.com ), a novel based on the chess-like game of the battle of the sexes.
“While I’m sure many men decide not to roll the dice on their career, marriage and legacy, I’m also confident the latest scandal will recur in the future with other characters. My advice to powerful men? Beware of beautiful, audacious women!”
Whether it’s a politician, movie star, celebrity athlete or even a prominent religious figure, most men are hard-wired to be susceptible to the temptation of flattering mistresses, he says.
“It may be that the unbridled self-confidence that propelled their success also makes them blind to the risks that a woman might be their downfall,” he says. “They all say sorry once they’ve been caught. Had they not been caught, however, would they be sorry?”

On a frigid New York night last month, a New York police officer walking his beat spotted an elderly homeless man sitting barefoot on a sidewalk near Times Square. The officer stopped to ask the man whether he had anything to keep his feet warm. The elderly man said no.
So, the young officer went to a nearby shoe store and bought the man the best waterproof winter boots he could find, along with socks. He returned to the man and knelt beside him to help him put them on. Unbeknownst to Officer Lawrence DePrimo, a visiting tourist snapped a photo and sent it to the NYPD. Inspiration went viral.
It’s that simple yet powerful sort of gift 35-year-old Heather Huffman has rediscovered since moving to the Ozark Mountains with her husband and three sons to try their hand at homesteading.
“Just smiling at a stranger who looks like they’re not having such a great day and seeing their scowl melt, that’s a really great feeling,” says Huffman (
www.heatherhuffman.net ), who – between tending chickens, horses, cows and three rambunctious boys -- writes uplifting mystery-romance novels. Her newest is “Devil in Disguise.”

More and more adults – especially those younger than 30 – are claiming to have no religion, according to the latest Pew polls.
Nearly 20 percent of U.S. adults check the “unaffiliated” box, the Pew Research Center found. That percentage swells to one-third for those under 30. But 68 percent of the 46 million who are not affiliated with a religion say they are spiritual in some ways, and they believe in God.
What does all of this mean for the future of God in America?
“We are a nation founded by Christians, and founded on Christian values,” says Alex Soto, author of “The Will of God: Moral and Political Guidance from Calvin’s Commentaries on the Mosaic Law,” (
www.annodomini.com). “The battle cry of the American War of Independence was ‘No king but King Jesus!’ But the current political climate seems to celebrate religion only when it is explicitly kept out of the conversation.”
To confuse God’s role in America is to confuse how America came to be, and that confusion will only metastasize as the “unaffiliated” crowd grows, Soto says.

A Holistic Health Expert on Dr. Mehmet Oz's ShareCare site, Begabati graduated from Harvard in 1974 at the top of her class and embarked on an unusual career path. Instead of becoming a doctor like her father, she became an expert in natural healing by running health food stores in Boston and Cambridge. She first began working with homeopathic remedies in 1981 and began studying homeopathy professionally in 1995 with Dr. Luc De Schepper. She co-founded the Renaissance Institute of Classical Homeopathy with Dr. Luc in 1996, subsequently becoming Director of Teleosis School of Homeopathy (2002-2010).
In 2010 Begabati changed her focus to empowering people to use homeopathy for home health care via her books (A Healer In Every Home part 1 for families, part 2 for animal care) and her GreenHealingTV channel on YouTube. Her latest book, Your Natural Medicine Cabinet (written using her middle name, Burke), is in Barnes & Noble stores and local bookstores and health food stores nationwide.
