Michelle King Robson is a nationally-recognized women’s health advocate. She is the Founder, Chairperson and CEO of EmpowHER, a health media company for women. She started the company following her own struggle with a debilitating health issue. Michelle is a tireless voice for women and the visionary behind EmpowHER. She travels the world talking to women's groups, health care organizations, political leaders, regulatory bodies and the media about women's health and wellness issues. She stresses the importance of women advocating for themselves and their loved ones. Many older women who were part of the sexual revolution in the sixties and seventies are reluctant to talk with their partners or healthcare professionals about the sexual health issues they’re experiencing. What they may not know is that there is help for many women who may be suffering in silence. The fact is that every woman will experience menopause, and with menopause and postmenopause come health challenges or questions that need to be addressed. Talking about these topics is never easy – even with your doctor – but it is important to become educated so you understand your symptoms and how to best manage them.

Serial entrepreneur Susan Alpert captured the good life with her husband of 46 years, Larry. She had a great family and a successful career, including running several multimillion-dollar companies.
“Ten months after my husband was diagnosed with leukemia, I lost him – along with my passion and ability to focus on a purpose for living,” says Alpert, author of “Driving Solo,” (susanalpertconsulting.com).
She was overwhelmed with the amount of financial, legal, civic and personal paper work necessary for settling the present and for planning the future. For two years, Alpert says, she was a shell of the happy person she used to be. Despite her business savvy, she had initially experienced major difficulty in navigating her personal finances.
“I sat with a cosmic void in me which I had no idea how to fill; then, it suddenly came to me,” she says. “What does one do to handle the practical aspects of settling the estate after the loss of a loved one? Who do you notify and when? What papers do you need to file, and which documents do you need to amend? How do you untangle the pieces, and what do you do with them once there’s some order? How do you tend to business when you’re in a fog of grief?”
Each year, approximately 1.2 million Americans lose their spouses. Alpert decided she would help these survivors. She offers these tips for handling the immediate aftermath of a spouse’s death.

Neglected at home, a victim of emotional and domestic abuse, Ester Nicholson gave birth to a daughter while still in her middle teens and was shortly thereafter introduced to snorting, then smoking cocaine. Lost in years of addiction, she neglected her child, indulged in destructive relationships, became obsessive about men, raged at the world, heaped self-abuse on herself, lost job after job, surrendered custody of her child and was nearly homeless. Even her early AA meetings were merely another way to dress up and attract attention.
But over time, the practices started their work, and with wise sponsors and teachers around her, she began her journey to recovery. Yet even so, Ester was still in a fragile state and in constant danger of backsliding. The inertia of her past life was all too compelling. On a recommendation of a friend, she attended the Agape International Spiritual Center, where--inspired by the message--she attended services, took classes and came under the spiritual wing of Michael Bernard Beckwith (who also wrote the foreword for Soul Recovery) and the musical tutelage of his wife, Agape musical director Rickie Byars Beckwith.
