The U.S. owns 94,000 miles of coastline, and nearly half the population lives less than ten miles from the sea. Yet as much as 91 percent of the seafood Americans eat comes from abroad. In contrast, a third of all the fish and shellfish we catch are sold to foreign countries. What is keeping us from eating from our local waters? In American Catch: The Fight for Our Local Seafood, Paul Greenberg examines the logic-defying problem with American seafood consumption. Greenberg, whose previous book Four Fish was a New York Times bestseller, sets out to explore in depth three quintessential American seafoods: the New York oyster, the Gulf shrimp, and the Alaskan sockeye salmon. Despite the challenges, Greenberg sees a revolution in America’s relationship with its local seafood. More and more, Americans are realizing the value of eating fish and the need to rebuild infrastructure to support American fishing and aquaculture. In American Catch, Greenberg finds the basis for our nation’s broken relationship with its oceans, and sets out to understand finally how that breach might be mended. Ξ HBO’s groundbreaking documentary, “Going Clear,” exposes the ugly underbelly of abuse, forced labor, forced abortions, absolute secrecy, shaming, shunning and other doctrines within Scientology. The documentary also reveals how the church hits back when it perceives it is being attacked. For example, the organization put out a hate-filled video of members who escaped the church. These former members are often referred to as “squirrels” – those who run away. Claire Headley, www.breakingfromscientology.com, who was born into the church, is one of the church’s targets. Her mother and stepfather speak out against her in the attack video. Ξ Room Full of Killers by Preston Rendell, is an extremely unique and powerful novel of many elements which include an adrenaline drenched look at boxing like none other and a white heat Italian love story. It features Gianni Valentino Romasco, who was brought up in the suburbs of Boston. As a youth he was bullied terribly because of his name, ethnicity and frail sickly condition. After weight training himself back to health he eventually decides to enter the boxing arena. Gianni goes through the amateur ranks then meets "Bad" Mike Brown. The story escalates like a rocket ship. The novel is extremely visual with razor sharp characterizations.

She lived for two years at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Mass., where she studied yoga and meditation. She says too often people ignore what their heart – or intuition – tells them, and don’t see how their life is unfolding exactly as it should.
